Our Commitment to a Sustainable Future

The Yacht Club de Monaco places every one of its activities, ashore and at sea, within a sustainable development approach. Its corporate social responsibility means reconciling performance, positive social impact and respect for the environment, from the running of the Clubhouse to the organisation of regattas, events and training.

ISO 14001 certified since 2016, this approach rests on three pillars: environment, society and governance.

“Proof must replace promise.”

Pillar 01

Environment

The Clubhouse, its operations and its regattas are designed to consume less and better. Every measure is part of the Club’s ISO 14001 certified environmental management system.

Renewable energy

Since 2018, the Club’s electricity has come from 100% renewable sources, certified Egeo by SMEG, earning it the e+ label. Photovoltaic cells, LED lighting and hydro-cooling using harbour water complete the system.

Water

Since June 2023, FGWRS technology has recycled the pool water. More than 128 m³ are returned each month during filter cleaning, in place of drinking water.

Waste and upcycling

Selective sorting throughout the premises, with plastic, metal, glass and paper recycled. Since 2024, event banners have been given a second life with AMAPEI, in an initiative that is both environmental and social.

Low-impact regattas

Anchor-free dynamic positioning buoys to protect the seabed, BTL biofuel made from recycled cooking oil for Tuiga and the committee boat, and five electric boats for the Sports Section.

Responsible purchasing

Local produce favoured for receptions and events, suppliers assessed on their impact, FSC-certified paper and less printing in favour of digital.

Mobility

A fleet of BMW electric and hybrid vehicles is available to staff for their journeys.

Pillar 02

Society

The Club puts its expertise and its network at the service of inclusion, solidarity and the next generation.

Inclusion

Each year in the Bay of Monaco, the Navicap Challenge, Elena Sivoldaeva Trophy brings together two-person crews on identical adapted boats provided by the Club, in a regatta open to people with disabilities.

Solidarity

The Club provides logistical support and mobilises its members for charity regattas benefiting sick children, such as Les Voiles de l’Espoir and the Croisière Sir Ernst.

Youth sailing

The Sailing School welcomes young people from the age of 6, and the school sailing programme introduces pupils to life on the water.

Training and awareness

Staff receive regular training in waste sorting, energy saving and waste reduction. Talks and workshops on ocean protection and biodiversity are offered to members and visitors.
Pillar 03

Governance

In line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, the Club’s approach is built on recognised certifications and action plans monitored over time.
